As a transgender, Two-Spirit or non-binary parent or caregiver, infant feeding may present unique challenges. At Trans Care BC, we understand the importance of providing inclusive support for all parents, regardless of gender. That's why we're introducing a comprehensive suite of resources to empower and guide parents with infant feeding.
Here are some of the topics our infant feeding resources cover:
- Exploring your feeding options: One of the first steps in the infant feeding journey is deciding how to feed your baby. Our downloadable PDFs offer valuable insights into various feeding methods, whether it's bodyfeeding after chest surgery, bottle feeding or using supplemental feeding. Each family's situation is different, and our resources aim to accommodate diverse pathways to parenthood.
- Considerations based on your situation: From considerations around binding during pregnancy to understanding the effects of testosterone on bodyfeeding, we aim to equip parents with the knowledge they need to make choices that align with their unique circumstances.
- Support and guidance: Infant feeding often comes with questions and uncertainties. Trans Care BC offers insights on various topics, from pumping and maintaining milk production to co-feeding and responsive bottle feeding.
At Trans Care BC, we're committed to offering resources and information that help every parent feel supported. You can find the full suite of our infant feeding resources here.
