Getting to talk to people who had gone through or were going through the same things as me was so important as I was coming out. I’ve come to understand how much of a legacy there is of peer support within trans communities. There is so much knowledge that we pass down to each other between trans people, and so much isolation is broken through just being able to see other trans people in our community living and being.

A lot of people are overwhelmed in our world. There’s information everywhere, and sometimes people try to help by suggesting books, reports, or publications you should read. Reading is not the only way to understand more about gender. Multimedia, like learning through online videos, felt a lot more accessible to me. Or there’s conferences or groups. Information comes from a lot of places.
