Transgender Awareness Week
Transgender Awareness Week
Each year from November 13-19, people across the world observe Transgender Awareness Week to uplift the voices and experiences of transgender people and help increase understanding about issues our community members face.
Transgender Awareness Week leads up to Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR) on November 20, a day to honour and remember transgender people whose lives were taken away by acts of anti-trans violence. TDoR has been a day of observance meant both to remember those whose lives were lost to anti-trans violence, and to highlight how transphobia – combined with sexism, poverty, racism, and colonialism – continues to disproportionately impact racialized Two-Spirit, trans, and gender diverse people – especially trans women of colour.
This month, we invite you to take some time to continue to learn how you can show up for Two-Spirit, trans and non-binary people.
