SAFER (Supporting Affirming Families through Education and Relationship)
Saanich
SAFER is a 6-week program designed to support relationship and connection between parents/caregivers and their trans youth. This free program begins each week with a family dinner followed by separate break-out spaces for parents/caregivers and trans youth. Parents/caregivers will learn about attachment-centred approaches to supporting and affirming trans youth while honouring questions, concerns, and fears that may be arising. Trans youth will participate in active and arts-based activities geard towards building connections with one another and discussing gender-related topics. This program is facilitated by trans and non-binary adults who have experience working with trans children and families, and a cisgender parent of a trans young adult.
